Gardening With Saltwater
In Gardening with Salt Water, Victoria Rolett examines the shifting relationship between people and the environments they inhabit. Her focus is on the tangible effects of climate change—rising tides, flooding, and the fragile balance between preservation and loss. She also locates diametric forces in structures historically preserved, complicating their stories.
About Victoria Rolett
Working across watercolors, oil painting, printmaking, collages and sculptures, Rolett constructs layered narratives from her own photographs and observations. These images, paired with research and current events, become a foundation for artworks that trace cycles of survival, neglect, and natural succession.
What emerges is less a single story than a series of intersections: human structures giving way to erosion or preserved with a specific narrative, ecosystems adapting in unexpected ways, and humor appearing alongside destruction. By overlapping these fragments, Rolett builds a record of landscapes in transition—one that highlights both the vulnerability of place and the quiet persistence of change.
