SPOTLIGHT: Visionary Artist - Meera Agarwal

Meera Agarwal, a self-taught local artist and passionate art instructor, creates captivating oil, acrylic, and mixed media works that can be seen throughout Westchester County. With a keen eye for figurative and abstract forms, her colorful award-winning paintings draw inspiration from nature’s marvels, diverse locales, and human stories. Meera's art is regularly featured in prominent exhibits across the tri-state area, and she is also a certified Art-o-Mat artist, contributing to art vending machines nationwide (including the Art-o-Mat at The RAC!) Recently, she expanded into public art with Rye Arts Center’s Rye’sAbove butterfly installation and contributed to the Rye Poetry Path.

Meera’s work

The Rye Arts Center is incredibly proud to present Meera Agarwal with our first ever 'Visionary Artist Award’ at our Annual Spring Benefit at The Capitol Theatre on May 4th!  The Award will be given annually to an artist whose work has impacted the community, has been a notable source of inspiration to others, and is a catalyst for keeping the local art scene vibrant.

The Visionary Artist Award also amplifies individuals who exude an innovative spirit and personify the transformative power of the arts.  Whether through captivating visual art, multimedia installations, immersive experiences, or thought-provoking performances, recipients of the Visionary Artist Award inspire awe and ignite imagination.

The Ground Glass, an association of fine art photographers based at Rye Art Center, will be hosting its 48th annual exhibit in the gallery.

The images on view were juried into this show by Debra Klomp Ching, co-owner of a highly regarded photography gallery in Brooklyn. Her juror's statement said "The 35 photographs selected represent a truly inspiring range of visions. In this grouping you will witness humor, wonderful observations of everyday life, creative depictions of the overlooked, careful use of juxtapositions, a clear passion for tradition, and a very good use of scopic perception."
