Don’t miss The Rye Arts Center’s annual free Maker Day. Workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on activities will introduce visitors to the cutting-edge tools of creativity.

STEAM Education integrates the Arts into the core curriculum subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Maker Day is your opportunity to explore the many STEAM activities available at The Rye Arts Center including:

The Rye Arts Center will also unveil the newest addition to its STEAM toolkit, the Glowforge! This amazing masterpiece of ingenuity broke the 30-day crowdfunding record in 2016, and The Rye Arts Center was among the founding purchasers. The Glowforge is a desktop laser that creates perfectly executed objects based on your design. It cuts through wood, leather, plastic, and fabrics. It can also engrave stone or metal. Simply create a design, add your raw material, and watch as a laser brings your imagination to life. Maker Day visitors will be among the first to see this groundbreaking piece of technology at work.

In addition to the myriad STEAM activities, visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on demonstrations in a number of The Rye Arts Center’s other offerings such as group guitar, piano, and violin, polymer clay, recycled arts, and more.

There will be activities available for ages 7 - Adult. Visitors will also enjoy special discounts for Spring and Summer registration!
