Irving Harper Auction & Celebration

At the age of 98, Irving Harper is ready to enter the art market. In a gesture of generous support of The Rye Arts Center, Harper has donated for auction one of his brilliantly crafted sculptures. This is the first time that a Harper sculpture has been made available for sale!

With a collection that numbers well over 400, Harper personally selected a colorful and vibrant snake to be the first, and perhaps only, of his works to be sold. The sculpture is comprised of hundreds of hand-cut diamond shapes, encircled within a plexiglass case that Harper created for the piece. The whimsical serpent currently sits proudly in the center of The Rye Arts Center’s gallery, ready for viewing.

In addition to the Snake we are pleased to announce that Irving Harper has agreed to include in the auction package: a private tour for two of his home and art collection, a chat with the artist, a signed book, and a celebratory champagne basket.

This priceless experience will likely never be offered again. The Rye Arts Center acknowledges with deep gratitude the Harper family’s generous donation.
